Finding Animation Work at Facebook

VFX Jobs at Facebook

Finding that crucial first job can be one of the toughest parts of a career in animation. To get there, you need to keep an eye on various company websites, sign up for their Twitter feed (Aardman for example seems to recruit largely through Twitter these days), and keep you ear to the ground. One useful group is the VFX jobs Group at Facebook, a community of VFX artists to post jobs, information, and generally help one another out.

The VFX Jobs group is a place for serious animation and VFX artists to share information - Spammers and time-wastes need not apply. To find the group, follow this link.

To find out more about finding work in the animation industry, click here.  Perhaps our most useful blog post about finding work is this one here, which sets out twelve steps to finding work.

Most important of all, keep in touch with your friends and colleagues in the industry. The people working inside a company are always the first to hear about upcoming jobs.

Our Facebook Group at Bucks, which is a closed group (sorry - you have to study with us to join!) often serves this function - our graduates in current work at busy studios will let other students know when jobs are on the horizon.

And, while you're at Facebook, check out the Art Jobs Connection page as well. It's also packed with digital art job opportunities.

For more on the experience of studying at Bucks New University, come and visit us at one of our Open Days, take a virtual tour of one of our animation studios, check out what our students think of our course, and see why we're ranked in the top 12 creative universities in the UK. Find out why we're giving free laptops to all our students, and why we give all our students free access to videos at Lynda.com. Also, see what financial assistance might be available to you. Learn which is better for animation, a PC or a Mac? Get hold of a copy of a map so you can find your way around campus, and learn aboutmotion capture at Bucks.
